ISO and IT: The positive impact on business!
The digital transformation of the industry promises to revolutionize the way we live, work and play, unlocking the enormous potential of new uses and applications. The key at this turning point is the role of information technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, analytics, and related data ecosystems.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) have jointly developed international standards for information and communication technologies in more than 22 areas for all aspects of the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem (SC 42), and the common. The organizations’ technical committee, ISO / IEC JTC 1, has focused on developing and maintaining standards for these technologies. Within this common structure, the work of the technical subcommittee on artificial intelligence, SC 42, aims to accelerate the adoption of standards, while addressing emerging issues that enable the successful digitization of sectors.
These international standards help information technologies to function properly so that they can help organizations make important strategic decisions, save time and resources, and better understand market trends and customer needs. They can also unlock valuable information leading to new inventions and solutions in various fields, such as congestion, medical diagnoses and treatments, food safety, and more.
Wael William Diab, chairman of one of the two ISO / IEC committees that developed the standards, said:
“At the heart of the fourth industrial revolution is the ability to draw on an increasingly centralized world. Large computer systems allow this digital transformation in a wide variety of industries. “These standards meet the growing demand for greater clarity and consistency of concepts and processes in big data handling.”
